Why people call
People call us in Montgomery County when their keys stop fitting, when they want to stop leaving copies under a mat, or when they want to add keypad or app access for family, contractors or short-term guests without losing the option of a mechanical key. Some have worn-out deadbolts that no longer turn smoothly; others want to replace a knob lock with a keypad deadbolt or add remote unlocking to an entry that’s currently key-only. We handle jobs that start from a frustration with the old setup and end with a keypad or app-controlled lock that also accepts the original key.

What the job involves
On site we work through a straightforward sequence so the new mechanism integrates with the existing door. We inspect the existing lock and door edge, verify the backset and bore size, and check the strike and frame for alignment. If needed we adjust the strike or trim the latch so the lock functions cleanly. We install the new smart unit while preserving a mechanical key override, install batteries, program master and user codes, connect any app setup, and test every access method before we pack up so the codes and the key both work.
03
Across the county
Work varies around the county because doors and buildings aren’t all the same. In older homes in Norristown we often deal with thicker doors, mortise-style hardware or tricky frames; in King of Prussia there are more condos and townhouse exterior doors that use cylindrical deadbolts; in parts of Abington Township we encounter split-levels and newer subdivisions with standard bore sizes that accept a direct retrofit. We adapt the procedure for metal storefront doors, multi-family entries with shared strikes, and doors that have glass sidelights or nonstandard backsets.

Before we arrive
Before we arrive have the existing keys and any property owner or manager present, and make sure the work area at the door is clear of planters or obstructions. If you plan to use an app, have your phone charged and ready and know the Wi-Fi network name and password if the lock needs it. Tell us whether the door swings left or right and whether the current latch is a deadbolt or a spring latch, and have permission from anyone else on the property if it’s a rental or shared unit. Our van comes to you and we’ll do the physical work where the lock is.
