The buildings and the hardware
Many doors in local housing present particular patterns for lock work. Older homes often have narrow stile doors and mortise locks or older rim cylinders that need custom-fit strike plates or tailpiece adapters; you see more surface-mounted hardware in aging apartment buildings and simpler cylindrical deadbolts in newer single-family houses. That variety changes the parts and the approach: mortise cylinders and faceplates may require different keys and cutting profiles, while modern cylindrical locks often allow quicker cylinder swaps and standardized latch assemblies. We match the replacement hardware to the door construction and the existing keyway.
