The buildings and the hardware
The built environment here typically means a lot of different hardware in one town. Older houses often have mortise locks, multi-point latches, and wooden doors that need custom fit work; newer houses use cylindrical deadbolts and predrilled slab doors where cartridge-style replacements are common. Apartments usually have keyed-entry systems and common-area hardware that needs coordinated cores or master-keying; storefronts bring in rim cylinders, exit devices, and panic hardware with glass-door cylinders and strike reinforcement. Each door style and age changes what parts we carry and whether we repair, rekey, or swap the whole lock.
