The buildings and the hardware
The housing stock here affects the hardware we see. Many houses have older solid-wood doors and mortise or older cylindrical locks that were installed decades ago; apartment buildings bring a mix of newer cylindrical locks and multi-unit master-key systems. Where storefronts exist, you’ll find commercial-grade deadbolts, exit devices, and sometimes rim or surface-mounted cylinders. Older doors often need larger strike plates or latch adjustments because framing and thresholds shift over time; that changes what replacement parts we use and whether we recommend upgrading to a heavier duty cylinder or a fresh set of strike and hinge hardware.
