The buildings and the hardware
The building stock around here means you see a lot of different hardware. Many doors are older solid-wood styles that still use mortise or rim locks, which need different cylinders and longer screws for proper alignment; there are also newer vinyl and metal doors with cylindrical deadbolts and strike plates that often need reinforcement. Small storefronts and duplexes bring in commercial-grade latchsets and exit hardware, while multi-unit buildings require keyed-alike or master-key setups. The age and door material determine whether we replace the whole lock, rekey the cylinder, or retrofit a reinforced strike and longer bolts for a secure fit.
