The buildings and the hardware
The local building stock affects the hardware we see. Many homes have older solid-wood or metal doors with mortise or tubular locks; trim and door edges can be worn, latches may be loose, and strike plates are often set in soft or painted jambs. Multiunit buildings tend to retain simpler knob locks and shared mailbox hardware; storefronts and offices commonly use commercial-grade cylindrical locks, exit devices, or padlocks on exterior gates. That variety means we bring both residential and commercial parts: different cylinder profiles, longer screws, and heavier-duty strike plates for tougher installations.
