The buildings and the hardware
The types of buildings determine the hardware we fit and repair. Single-family homes tend to have solid-wood or metal exterior doors that take full-size deadbolts and a separate keyed cylinder, while townhouses and multiunit buildings often use cylindrical locks or master-keyed systems. Older doors sometimes still have mortise locks that need different parts and techniques than modern bored locks, so the job can mean sourcing vintage components or retrofitting a contemporary deadbolt. Commercial storefronts ask for heavy-duty cylinders, exit devices, or keyed-alike sets for staff access control.
