What goes wrong
Locks at homes in Blue Bell wear out in predictable ways: a deadbolt that binds because the door has shifted, a worn cylinder that lets a key slip, or a broken key stuck in a knob. We also see electronic keypads with dead batteries or wiring faults, and sliding-door mortise locks that lose their bite. We describe parts by what they are (the plug, the tailpiece, the bolt and the strike), so you know exactly what’s loose or broken. That makes it quicker to decide whether to repair, rekey, or replace hardware.

What the job involves
When we arrive we first get the door open without unnecessary damage whenever possible, then inspect the bolt, strike, and door frame. We try to preserve the existing cylinder if it still meets the homeowner’s needs; if not we remove it and fit a new cylinder or a new deadbolt. We can replace the strike with a reinforced plate, fit a long-throw deadbolt, or swap in a keyless cylinder and deal with keypad wiring. We carry common cylinder sizes and a selection of hardened bolts and strikes so we can complete most residential jobs on the spot.

Good to know
While you wait for us to come, we will tell you how soon we can make it and what we recommend doing in the meantime. If the key broke off, don’t push other tools into the keyway; that can push the shard deeper. If a keypad is acting up, leave power alone until we look at it. Have a form of ID and something that shows you live at the property, and if you can, gather any spare keys, the lock or keypad model number from the faceplate, and a photo of the door edge or frame to speed our assessment.

Worth knowing
We carry a selection of replacement cylinders, hardened deadbolts, reinforced strikes, and the cutters and files needed to make new metal keys or fit a cylinder on-site. We can rekey several locks to use the same key, drill out and replace damaged cylinders when necessary, and fit hardware that better resists forced entry. If you’re in the wider area (we also serve Whitpain Township, Ambler and nearby towns), we drive out from Havertown with tools and parts and explain the work and options before we begin so you know what the hardware will do.
