What goes wrong
Most residential calls start with a door that won’t latch, a cylinder that turns but won’t retract the bolt, or a key that snaps in a lock. We work on deadbolts, knob and lever locks, mortise locks, and patio sliding-door hardware. If a lock is corroded or the tailpiece sheared, we examine the cylinder and the bolt assembly to decide whether to rekey, repair, or replace parts. In Plymouth Township we deal with the usual range of weathered exterior hardware and the occasional jammed interior latch caused by shifted framing.

What the job involves
When we arrive we bring tumbler pin kits, replacement cylinders, trim plates, longer screws for reinforced strikes, and a selection of common deadbolt and knob trims so we can match the look. We drive out from Havertown with the tools to extract broken keys, re-pin cylinders, and square up latch faces. For a sliding door or multi-point lock we check the rail, rollers, and catch alignment before changing components. We explain what needs to be swapped and which parts do the mechanical work.

Good to know
While you wait at the house we ask that you have a photo ID and proof of residency for security reasons, and that you clear the area around the door or include access keys if they’re available. If children or pets are present please secure them away from the work area; it keeps the job straightforward and safer. If you can, point out any previous repairs, the location of spare keys, or a recent incident that started the problem; that background often narrows the likely causes.

Worth knowing
If we are replacing hardware we fit a new cylinder to the existing door thickness, verify the backset and strike alignment, and tune the bolt throw so it hits solidly into the reinforced strike plate. For rekeys we remove the cylinder, sort pins to the new key bitting, then test several cut keys to ensure smooth operation. We also handle lockouts by non-destructive entry when possible, and when drilling is unavoidable we discuss replacing the cylinder afterward. We service homes across Plymouth Township and nearby areas such as Plymouth Meeting when residents need a mobile locksmith.
