What goes wrong
A lock emergency in Plymouth Township can take a few different forms: a key snapped in the cylinder, a deadbolt that no longer throws fully because the jamb has shifted, an electronic lock with a dead battery, or an auto door that won’t unlock after the key fob fails. We see seized cylinders, mangled keys in warded locks, and latches that have been forced. We describe the problem plainly so you know what we’re fixing: whether it’s extracting broken metal, cutting a new blade, or getting a latch to meet a reinforced strike again.

What the job involves
When we arrive we start by diagnosing the mechanism and the cause. We try non-destructive entry first (tensioning, picking, or decoding a keyway) and move to extraction or replacement when the cylinder is damaged. We can remove a mortise cylinder, replace a rim cylinder, re-pin a domestic-style lock, or swap out an electronic keypad module. If a cylinder is seized solid we may remove it and fit a new one, and if a strike is split we fit a stronger, longer-throw strike and reinforce the jamb where needed. We drive out from Havertown and work at the lock itself.

Good to know
While you wait, the safest things to do are simple: make sure everyone is out of harm’s way, keep children and pets clear of the doorway, and have ID and proof of ownership ready. If the problem is a car, keep the vehicle registration and keys or fob with you and move to a safe position off the street. If the lock is on a business door, secure any sensitive areas you can and clear customers from the immediate work zone. Telling us what happened and showing the broken key or the failed hardware speeds the job once we get there.

Worth knowing
Have these items ready when we start: a government ID that matches ownership, any spare keys you have, and photos of the lock or damage if you took any before calling. For vehicles, note the make, model, and VIN or bring the registration; for electronic locks, know the battery type or bring a replacement battery or fresh keypad batteries. Tell us if you’ve recently had other work done on the lock or door. If you’re near Plymouth Meeting, Norristown, or elsewhere in Montgomery County, we’ll come to the lock and get it back to working properly.
