The buildings and the hardware
The built environment in this part of Montgomery County affects the hardware we meet. Many houses have older solid wood doors with through-bolts and mortise lockcases; those take different cylinders and longer screws than thin hollow-core doors. Where there are duplexes or small apartment buildings, locks may be simple tubular latches or rim cylinders mounted on light-gauge metal doors, with worn strike plates or stretched jambs. Storefronts and small commercial units often use metal edge-pull doors with heavy latch assemblies or exit devices. That variety means we carry both full-sized mortise parts and smaller tubular latch components.
