What goes wrong
Commercial doors in Souderton and surrounding towns fail in the same handful of ways: cylinders shear or jam, mortise bolts stick, exit devices catch on a warped stile, strikes pull loose from a rotted frame, and keypad or card readers lose their programming or their low-voltage feed. We see panic bars bent from misuse, closers with worn valves that slam or don’t latch, and master-key systems that have become tangled after years of ad-hoc changes. When that happens the entry point becomes a liability and we focus on the mechanical details first.

What the job involves
On arrival we start with an on-site assessment of the hardware and how the door is operating. We check keyway condition and plug retention, measure the throw of bolts, inspect the strike and jamb reinforcement, and test the control wiring for access panels. If a cylinder needs replacement we remove trim, core out the lock, and install a compatible cylinder or an interchangeable core. For access control work we run wires, mount readers, and program the keypad or controller so it talks to the system you use.

Good to know
While we work it helps if staff stay clear of the affected doors and route foot traffic to an alternate entrance. We ask a manager to be available to confirm authorization and to point out which suites or storage areas are critical. If there are active keycards or PIN lists, tell us which ones to deactivate so you don’t have phantom access while we reprogram. We travel out from Havertown with our service van stocked for commercial jobs; that keeps most of the common parts and tools on hand.

Worth knowing
Before we start, have anything that identifies the lock family or core type ready to show us: existing keys, a spare core, photos of the lock and strike, the door handing, and the nearest power source for readers or maglocks. If you have a list of doors that need to be master-keyed or rekeyed, bring that list and the names for each key level. For tenants or building staff, have a contact who can sign off on the work and unlock interior doors if we need to access closet or mechanical rooms. We’ll get straight to the mechanical fixes and the device setup you need.
