The buildings and the hardware
The area’s housing mix affects the hardware we see. Many houses here have older solid-wood doors with mortise or heavy deadbolt prep; those doors can take a full-size deadbolt or a mortise lock but often show wear on the jamb and strike. Where there are smaller rental units or apartments, the common hardware is cylindrical knobs or lever locks with tubular latches and simpler deadbolts; those installations often require shimmed strikes or reinforced plates. Storefronts and small commercial entrances use rim cylinders, panic bars or keyed aluminum-door hardware, which means we bring different cylinder sizes, strike reinforcements, and commercial-grade fasteners to these jobs.
