The buildings and the hardware
The local building stock matters to the locks we see. Many houses are frame construction with wooden doors that have seen multiple paint jobs and aftermarket deadbolts; older doors often have mortise or rim locks rather than modern cylindrical sets. There are also newer single-family homes and townhouse units built with prepped jambs designed for standard cylindrical locks. That variety means we bring a range of replacement cylinders, longer screws, and jamb hardware, and sometimes you need a new door edge or reinforced strike rather than a simple cylinder swap. Apartment entry and small retail doors usually use different keying systems and tougher commercial hardware.
