Lock and key work in Marlborough Township, PA

What people call about

People call for the usual range of lock and key work: emergency lock changes when a door has been forced, rekeying after a tenant turnover, new deadbolts and handle sets, and replacement of worn cylinder cores. In Marlborough Township we handle residential lockouts and car lockouts, and we make replacement car keys and remote fobs at the roadside. We also install or repair commercial entry hardware on small storefronts and outbuildings. Technically that means cutting keys, pinning or repinning cylinders, fitting replacement latch assemblies, and programming transponder chips and remotes when a vehicle or homeowner needs electronic access restored.

The buildings and the hardware

Homes and small commercial buildings in this part of Montgomery County bring a mix of older and newer hardware. Many houses have solid wood doors with mortise or rim cylinders, or older bored cylindrical locks mounted in door-edge cutouts, while some duplexes and newer subdivisions use modern bored locks and key-in-knob sets. That variety changes the work: mortise locks require removal and servicing of the lock body, while bored locks often need only cylinder extraction and repinning. Commercial doors may use exit devices or commercial cylindrical locks that need different fasteners and strike reinforcement. We bring the appropriate drivers, punches, and replacement parts for both types.

The car side

On cars the work has shifted from mechanical keys to electronics. Older vehicles take traditional cutting and decoding of a metal key and sometimes a high-security groove or sidewinder profile. Modern cars add transponder chips, remote fobs, and proximity systems; those require key blade cutting plus on-vehicle or bench programming to match the immobilizer. For lockouts we use non-destructive entry tools when possible, and when a key’s lost we will cut and program replacements for many makes and models at the car. We can also repair broken ignition cylinders and extract snapped keys from locks and ignitions.

How we work

We are a mobile-only locksmith; there is no storefront or counter; every job happens at the location of the lock. When you call we describe what we can do and give a realistic account of our availability instead of promising an arrival time. Technically we carry cut key blanks, cylinder pinning kits, locksmith power tools, and diagnostic programmers in the van so most repairs and replacements are completed on site. If you want to know about credentials: Pennsylvania does not license locksmiths, so we explain our experience and the specific work we’ll do rather than cite a state credential.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

More questions people ask before calling.

Can you make it so I can use one key for every exterior door at my house in Marlborough Township?

Rekeying the outside locks, we change the cylinders so those doors work on a single key where the existing hardware allows; if a particular lock is worn or not compatible we will replace that lock instead. Have every current key for those doors ready so we can match pinning to the keys you already use.

My door lock was badly damaged during a forced entry attempt, so can you fix it?

When the attempt was recent, get the police out first; hold off on any repairs until they are done. We replace the damaged cylinder or whole lock as needed and repair or reinforce the strike so the door secures properly again. Have the door closed for inspection and tell us whether the latch or bolt is sticking; keep any broken pieces or the old hardware available for us to inspect if you still have them.

I manage several rental units, so can you rekey multiple doors so each tenant only has their own key and I have a master?

Rekeying between tenants, we set each unit’s door so only that tenant’s key works while the owner’s master key opens all. Provide a list of the units and which doors need rekeying so we can plan the master and sub-master keying pattern. We ask to see your ID and paperwork showing the units are yours to manage before we rekey any unit.

I snapped a key off in my front lock in Marlborough Township, can you get it out and make a new one?

Removing the broken fragment, we extract the key piece, cut a replacement key, and repair or replace the cylinder if the mechanism is damaged. Until we arrive, don’t turn the lock, don’t poke anything into the keyway, and keep both halves of the key if you recovered them so we can match the break.
