The buildings and the hardware
The types of buildings around here affect the hardware you see. Older houses often have wooden doors with mortise locks, rim cylinders, and three-inch backset hardware; those components need different tools and parts than newer bored cylindrical locks. Small apartment buildings and storefronts more commonly feature metal-frame doors, closer-mounted panic hardware, and commercial-grade cylindrical or exit devices that require different fasteners and door prep. That variety means we carry both residential and light-commercial parts and know when a trim piece, strike plate, or longer screw is the right fix, rather than swapping in a mismatched lock that won’t line up with the door frame.
