What goes wrong
Home lock problems we see in Royersford are ordinary but specific: keys that won’t turn in a cylinder, broken key fragments stuck in a lock, deadbolts with sloppy throws, knob sets that wiggle loose, and sliding door latches that won’t engage. Wooden doors that swell or shrink can push the latch out of alignment so the bolt won’t enter the strike, and older cylinders get corroded or frozen. We describe the part that’s at fault and what it will take to restore solid operation, not vague promises.

What the job involves
When we arrive we work from the outside in: inspect the lock, test the cylinder, and check the strike and the door jamb. We remove broken keys, re-pin or replace cylinders, and swap knob or deadbolt hardware when needed. We carry a compact key machine, drill bits, extractor tools, replacement cylinders, and a selection of hardened bolts and screws so we can do the mechanical work on site. We drive out from Havertown and bring the tools necessary to complete the job where the lock is mounted.

Good to know
While you wait it helps if you can tell us which door, whether the lock is a keyed knob, a deadbolt, a handle set, or a mortise lock, and whether you have additional keys. Please secure pets and clear a working area around the door so we can set down tools and line up parts. Have photo ID and something that shows you live at the address ready; that lets us verify ownership before cutting or rekeying keys. If children are present keep them at a safe distance from tools.

Worth knowing
To speed the job along, have any existing keys and any manufacturer paperwork available, and note the door thickness and the backset measurement if you know them. Take photos of the lock from the outside and inside and send them ahead if you can; pictures of the jamb and strike plate are especially useful. If the frame is split, the strike is thin and stamped, or the screws in the strike are short, mention that; we often replace the fasteners with longer hardened screws and fit a reinforced strike where the door hardware needs a stronger connection. We also serve nearby Spring City and Trappe when customers need residential lock work.
