What goes wrong
Cars get locked out in lots of ordinary ways: keys left on the seat, a key snapped in the ignition, a fob that won’t communicate, or a trunk that won’t unlatch because the interior release won’t move. We start by finding how the vehicle’s locking system actually works (mechanical door latch and rod, manual cylinder, or an electronic actuator) and pick the method that will avoid damage. In Royersford we handle both older mechanical locks and more recent vehicles with electric door locks, choosing tools and access points suited to the hardware.

What the job involves
A typical job involves creating access without harming the door skin, glass, or trim. We use inflatable wedges, long-reach tools, and targeted picks on the lock cylinder or actuator rod where appropriate, or carefully remove interior panels when that’s the least destructive option. If a key is broken in the ignition we extract the fragment and assess the cylinder; if a trunk is sealed we look for factory access through the rear seats or service holes before cutting anything. We always work to preserve the existing parts unless replacement is needed.

Good to know
With a child or a pet locked in the car, your first step is to call 911. Tell us the make, model, year, and which doors are locked, and whether you have a spare key elsewhere. We drive out from Havertown and will ask for the vehicle’s registration and your photo ID when we arrive so we can confirm ownership before starting.

Worth knowing
Have ready the vehicle title or registration and a photo ID so we can verify you own or are authorized to use the car; that speeds the paperwork once we’re there. Also check whether a spare key is available at home or with someone nearby, and whether the fob battery has been changed recently. In Royersford and nearby towns like Spring City or Trappe we’ll explain any repairs or parts that are actually necessary (for instance a worn cylinder that needs replacement or a latch mechanism that’s bent) and show the problem before we proceed.
