Why people call
People in Delaware County call us for lock replacement for a handful of straightforward reasons: a key has broken in the cylinder, the bolt won’t retract, the latch keeps catching, the rose or trim is corroded, or the lock looks warped after a door blow or long wear. Others want a different feel: swapping a round knob for a lever, or replacing a shallow, stamped deadbolt with a heavier solid-deadbolt body. Renters and landlords call when tenants move; homeowners call after water damage, rust, or when they simply want a different keyway.

What the job involves
A typical job begins with an inspection of the door and of the existing hardware. We loosen and remove the knob or lever, take the cylinder or deadbolt out, and assess the bore and the faceplate. If the new lock fits the existing holes we install the latch, the cylinder and the trim, then tighten and set the strike plate so the bolt aligns cleanly with the door jamb. We cut and test keys on site, check turning effort, and make minor strike adjustments so the new lock operates smoothly.

Across the county
Work varies across the county because doors and buildings do. In Upper Darby we see a lot of multi-family entries, metal exterior doors and shared corridors, so we focus on heavy-duty cylinders and robust strikes. Drexel Hill brings many detached and semi-detached houses with painted wood doors and mortise or tubular preparations that need careful fitting and matching of trim. In Lansdowne there are older rowhouses and storefront entries where you may find a mix of old mortise cases and modern bored locks; that requires swapping parts or adapting new hardware to older doors without damaging surrounding trim.

Before we arrive
Before we arrive, clear the work area and make the door you want serviced accessible from both sides if possible. Have any keys that still work ready and point out which lock to replace if a door has multiple cylinders. Remove storm doors, decorative plates or loose hardware so we can work without obstruction, and unlock the door if you can do so safely. If there are special concerns about the door material (thin metal, hollow core, heavy solid wood), tell us when you call so we can bring the right selection of replacements and any extra parts you might need. Our van comes to the address, and we do all fitting where the lock already sits.
