What people call about
People in Lima call for a predictable set of problems: locked-out homes and cars, broken or snapped keys, lost keys that need replacement, rekeying after a move, and emergency repairs after a door or cylinder has been forced. We also handle routine residential work such as installing or upgrading deadbolts, replacing worn knobsets, extracting broken keys from cylinders, and adding keyed-alike systems for multiple doors. Emergency Locksmith, Car Lockout, Car Key Replacement, and Residential Locksmith jobs make up the bulk of the calls; the work is a mix of mechanical and electronic tasks, so technicians carry both traditional locksmith tools and transponder/fob programming gear.

The buildings and the hardware
The building stock in towns like this affects the hardware we see. Many houses are older with thicker wooden doors and mortise lock cases; those doors need different strikes, longer screws, and sometimes a mortise cylinder rather than a modern bored lock. Small multi-family buildings and a few storefronts mean we still fit rim locks, surface-mounted closers, and older mail or utility boxes. Retrofit work (making modern deadbolts, keypad locks, or reinforced strikes fit into existing doors and frames) is common. That often requires drilling, shimming, or replacing certain trim parts rather than swapping out a lock and expecting a direct fit.

The car side
On the vehicle side, calls range from plain lockouts to full key replacement and programming. Vintage cars usually need only a cut mechanical key; many cars made in the last decade require a programmed transponder, a remote fob, or a proximity key with immobilizer functions. Replacing those keys involves precise cutting and electronic syncing with the vehicle’s immobilizer or body control module, sometimes using the OBD port and dedicated diagnostic equipment. We handle dead fobs, spare mechanical keys, and the extraction of keys stuck in ignitions, and we bring the tools needed to produce and program a working key on site.

How we work
We operate as a mobile-only locksmith: there’s no storefront or counter to visit, and every job happens at the door, vehicle, or lock that needs attention. Our van carries cylinders, deadbolts, replacement keys, key blanks, fob programmers, and the hand tools to finish most jobs on location. On the phone we’ll tell you the current schedule and give a realistic picture of how soon we can come; we don’t promise an arrival time, and we won’t meet you at a shop. Technicians work from the van and complete rekeys, lock changes, key cutting, and emergency entries where the lock is mounted.
