The buildings and the hardware
The building stock in Rose Valley affects the hardware you see. Many doors are older wood units with deep mortises and original metal escutcheons that need specific-size replacement parts or longer screws to secure the strike and frame. Where there are multi-unit buildings or small storefronts the lock types shift to commercial-grade cylindrical or mortise hardware with different keyways and boltwork. Those differences change the repair approach: a new deadbolt for an old plank door may need a reinforced strike and a longer spindle; a storefront cylinder might require a keyed-alike setup for several doors.
