The buildings and the hardware
The age and type of housing in this area changes the hardware we see. Older wooden doors often still have mortise locks or old rim locks; the faceplates and strike boxes can be recessed or crudely fitted, which means we spend time fitting replacement hardware or adapting modern deadbolts to older cutouts. Multi-family buildings and small storefronts use a mix of cylindrical locks and commercial-grade hardware; apartments frequently need rekeys between occupants while storefronts ask for higher-security cylinders and reinforced strikes to resist forced entry. Door frames can be soft or painted over, so we check alignment and recommend reinforcing where needed.
