The buildings and the hardware
The building stock here influences exactly what needs attention. Many doors are older wood units with mortise or rim locks that wear differently than modern bored cylindrical locks; apartment buildings often keep older multi-point or surface-mounted hardware that requires parts you don’t find at a box store. Storefronts bring aluminum doors and commercial cylinders, and rowhouses sometimes have thin frames that need reinforcement around the lock area. That mix means we carry mortise lock parts, commercial-grade cylinders, and heavy-duty strike plates, plus the tools to adapt modern hardware to older door construction without damaging the frame.
