The buildings and the hardware
The built environment affects the hardware we use. Older homes often have full-mortise locks, thicker wooden doors, offset backsets and wider cutouts that need compatible locksets or adapter plates; apartment buildings tend toward metal-framed entry doors, cylindrical bored locks and communal mailbox banks. Storefronts and small businesses use surface-mounted exit devices, aluminum storefront cylinders and sometimes rim locks that require different keying. That variety means a one-size-fits-all cylinder won’t do: we match parts to the door thickness, backset and existing preparation, and when retrofit work is needed we focus on keeping the original door while giving you reliable, serviceable hardware.
