What goes wrong
We handle the kinds of problems homeowners call about in Upper Salford Township every week: broken keys stuck in a cylinder, deadbolts that won’t throw fully because the door has sagged, knob or lever sets with stripped screws, and electronic lock batteries that die or lose their programming. We cut out broken pieces, extract cores, and replace cylinders or whole locksets depending on the wear. We explain whether a lock can be repaired or needs a replacement by showing the part that failed and the practical difference between a new cylinder and continued wear on the original hardware.

What the job involves
When we come to a house for a rekey, lock change, or lock repair we check the door edge, the strike, the screws, and the latch tailpiece to see what else will hold up once the lock is back in service. We remove trim if needed, take measurements of backset and hole diameter, and use thread-compatible machine screws for strikes or reinforced strike plates when the frame will accept them. We carry common cylinder sizes and a stock of mortise and tubular latch parts so we can often finish the mechanical work on the spot.

Good to know
If you call from Upper Salford Township, have a door that opens onto a porch or a clear approach; don’t block the threshold with furniture and secure pets where they won’t dash out when we work. Have photo ID and something that shows you live at the property if keys are missing or you need a full lock change; a lease, utility bill, or mail with your name works. If you know the lock brand or can read the cylinder code, write that down. We drive out from Havertown with tools and parts sized for typical residential hardware.

Worth knowing
For issues with electronic locks, keypad modules, or smart deadbolts we bring diagnostic tools to test batteries, wiring, and the actuator. We will remove a keypad, test the module on a bench, and swap in a fresh battery or a replacement module if the board has failed. For broken key extraction we use picks, extractors, and small vises to grasp and pull without damaging the cylinder; if the key damage requires a new key we cut and file it to match the original profile. We talk through the mechanical tradeoffs and leave the lock operable before we go.
