What goes wrong
Homes in Franconia Township call us for the usual residential problems: keys broken off in the cylinder, deadbolts that no longer throw fully, latchbolts rubbing against a warped door, and mailbox or garage locks that have seized from corrosion. We look at the lock body, the bolt, the strike and the door frame to find what failed. Often the hardware is solid brass or forged steel; sometimes the problem is a worn tumbler stack or a bent cam. We explain what needs to be repaired or replaced and which parts we can work on at the door.

What the job involves
When we work on a lock we bring hand tools and replacement parts for common makes and styles so we can handle cylinder swaps, rekeying, deadbolt installations or reinforcement work onsite. Rekeying involves removing the plug, replacing or rearranging the pins and checking the key operation; cylinder replacement requires measuring tailpiece length and door thickness and fitting a new core. For reinforced strikes and long-throw deadbolts we check the framing and may fit longer screws or a metal plate to secure the jamb properly.

Good to know
If you call from Franconia Township, tell us whether the lock is exterior or interior, what type of key you have, and whether the door sticks or the bolt seems misaligned. If you are locked out tell us which door is involved, and be prepared to prove you live at the address before we begin work. When you call we tell you honestly how soon we can come; while you wait, staying inside with access to the door and a phone is the most helpful thing.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown and work wherever the lock is mounted. For older homes we commonly find mortise locks with heavy faceplates, rim cylinders on storm doors, and passage or privacy sets with degraded springs. For new hardware we install cylinders with a compatible keyway, cut keys to match and check strike alignment. If you live near Harleysville or Telford and need residential lock work we do the same fundamental tasks: diagnose, undo the faulty parts, and fit components that move smoothly and secure the door. Have a spare key handy if you can.
