What goes wrong
Homes call us when a key snaps in a cylinder, a deadbolt binds on a swollen door, a latch refuses to throw, or an old mortise lock begins to wobble. We see stripped screws, rounded keyways, and bolt tongues that no longer line up with a strike plate. In Ardmore and nearby addresses we keep a working set of extraction tools, plug spinners, replacement cylinders and hardened bolts in the truck so we can evaluate what part of the lock is failing and whether the door or the frame is the real problem.

What the job involves
We start by tracing the fault back to the component that moves: the cylinder, the bolt, the latch, the strike or the spindle. We work on broken keys, extract shards from a keyway, disassemble a cylinder to inspect pins and springs, and measure bolt throw and strike alignment. When a lock is worn we remove it and fit a solid replacement, or we rekey the core so the old key no longer works. We drive out from Havertown with the tools to do the mechanical work on site.

Good to know
While you wait, make the area safe and accessible: keep children and pets away from the door, open gates and remove obstacles from the entry path, and stand where you can talk with us without blocking the work. Have a photo ID and something that shows you live at the address ready, and if there’s a spare key inside the house tell us where it is so we can verify ownership. When you call we’ll tell you how soon we can come and what we think you should have available while you wait.

Worth knowing
To speed the job and avoid back-and-forth, have whatever keys you have for that door and the make or brand name of the lock if you know it; a clear photo of the face of the lock or the latch helps for less-common hardware. If there’s a door jamb reinforcement, mail slot or glass near the lock point, let us know so we bring appropriate plates or shields. For customers in Ardmore and nearby communities a clear doorway, accessible lighting and a keyed entry or gate code when required make the visit straightforward and the repair straightforward.
