What goes wrong
Most calls are about a door that won’t latch, a deadbolt that won’t turn, a key that won’t go all the way in or breaks off in the cylinder. We work on knobsets, deadbolts, mortise locks, screen-door latches, and the hardware around the strike and jamb that makes a bolt secure. If a long-throw bolt is binding against a warped door, we’ll check the strike alignment and the bolt face to decide whether adjustment, reinforcement, or a new bolt is the right fix for that setup.

What the job involves
We handle rekeys, lock changes, and emergency lockouts for houses in Bryn Mawr and nearby addresses. Rekeying means we remove the cylinder or core, replace pins and cut keys so old keys no longer work; for lock replacement we match the new cylinder and tailpiece to the existing door prep, or fit a new plate if necessary. If there’s a keypad or smart lock we’ll test batteries, wiring and the spindle connection before replacing parts so the mechanical and electronic sides work together.

Good to know
If you’re locked out, stay calm and keep a safe vantage point near the door if you can; if you have pets secure them where they won’t escape. We ask that you have identification and proof of residency ready at the door so we can confirm we’re working for the right address, and gather any existing keys, the lock packaging or photos of the hardware if you have them. When you call we’ll tell you how soon we can come; otherwise it helps to describe the door material, whether it’s metal, fiberglass or wood, and whether there’s a storm or screen door in front.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown with the tools and common parts for residential work across Montgomery County, including Ardmore and Radnor Township when needed. Typical tools are pick sets, plug spinners, key extractors, pinning kits, a portable drill and files, and an assortment of cylinders and strikes. If a replacement is needed we’ll match a solid, forged bolt and a reinforced strike plate or fit a new knobset to the door thickness and backset. If you have questions about the cylinder type or deadbolt throw, ask us when we arrive and we’ll show you the parts.
