What goes wrong
We handle the typical emergencies that strand people at their door or in their car: a snapped key stuck in a cylinder, a deadbolt that refuses to retract, a latch bent out of alignment after a forced entry attempt, or a lockset with broken internal parts. We bring picks, plug spinners, bolt cutters, tubular lock tools, and replacement cylinders and deadbolts so we can assess whether repair or swap is the sensible move. In Bryn Mawr and nearby towns we use the actual parts that match the hardware on site rather than improvising with mismatched pieces.

What the job involves
When we work a residential lockout in Bryn Mawr we focus on non-destructive entry whenever the hardware and situation allow. If a key is broken in the plug we extract the fragment, check the plug and tailpiece for damage, and test the bolt’s operation before fitting a new keyway or cylinder. For jammed multipoint locks or reinforced strikes we realign the strike and door frame or change the latch mechanism. We keep the car and house file on what we changed so you get a usable lockback, not a temporary jury-rig.

Good to know
While we are on the way you can help by gathering proof of residence or ownership, locating spare keys if you have them, and clearing the area around the door so we can work without moving furniture. If a key broke inside the lock try not to rotate the remaining part; leave the cylinder in the position it stopped. For vehicles, have your registration or title handy and any dealer or key codes if you know them. We drive out from Havertown and will be driving directly to where the lock is.

Worth knowing
Once we have access we check the whole locking system, not just the failing part. That means inspecting the strike, the door edge, the mortise or surface-mounted case, the cam and tailpiece angles, and the mounting screws; a loose or worn fix can cause repeated failures. If the hardware is salvageable we rebuild the affected components and key the new parts to your existing key if possible. If a replacement is needed we fit cylinder, knob, lever, or deadbolt with the correct throw and reinforcement for the door so the fix lasts.
