What goes wrong
Lock problems that call for emergency work are usually blunt and physical: a key snapped in a cylinder, a deadbolt that won’t retract after the bolt jams against a warped door, a latch that refuses to turn because the strike pulled loose, or a mortise lock with a seized spindle. We handle house, apartment, car and storefront lock failures in Merion and nearby towns. We drive out from Havertown in our mobile van with the tools and parts to start on the spot. We explain what’s happened and what we need to do before we begin.

What the job involves
When we get to a job we start with a quick assessment of the mechanism and the door or frame. If a key is broken we extract the shaft and examine the plug; if the bolt won’t move we check the strike and the internal cam or tailpiece. We try techniques that keep the original hardware intact when that’s practical, and when replacement is the safer choice we fit a compatible cylinder, deadbolt, or reinforced strike and rekey or cut new keys on site.

Good to know
While you’re waiting, stay somewhere safe and keep children and pets away from the work area. If you’re outside your home or locked in a hallway, move to a visible doorway or a parked car and call from there. Have photo ID and proof of residency or ownership available if the situation requires verification; for renters a lease and for vehicle lockouts the vehicle registration help. Tell us what kind of lock or key you have, whether it’s a knob, deadbolt, mortise or a car fob, and if any recent damage or attempted entry occurred.

Worth knowing
To speed the job once we arrive, have any spare keys you can find, the door open to the affected side if it’s safe to do so, and space cleared so we can work. For vehicles bring registration and any remote or keyless fob you use; if a key is stuck in the lock, leave it where it is unless you’ve already tried pulling it out. We work across Montgomery County and adjacent counties, and we bring common cylinder sizes, blank keys and strike plates so we can repair or replace what’s needed and get you secured again.
