What goes wrong
Homes in Merion often have older mortise locks, rim cylinders, and long-throw deadbolts that show wear where mechanisms meet the bolt or strike. We replace broken spindle assemblies, bump-damaged cylinders, and worn keeps, and we install solid forged deadbolts and reinforced strikes when the door and frame allow it. If a keyed entry or knob is failing, we can remove the lock, inspect the latch and strike alignment, and either rebuild the cylinder on the door or swap in a new unit that fits the existing bore.

What the job involves
When a key snaps or a cylinder jams we extract the broken piece, inspect the plug and tailpiece, and check the adjacent hardware for damage. We carry extraction tools, plug spinners, and replacement cores to get a damaged lock working again or to prepare for rekeying. If you have a smart lock that’s offline we’ll check battery contacts, the mounting plate, and the deadbolt tailpiece engagement. We can convert a mechanical deadbolt to a compatible electronic unit and make the wiring or battery access neat.

Good to know
If you call from Merion or nearby Narberth or Penn Wynne, tell us which door, whether it’s a wooden or metal door, and whether the strike has been reinforced with screws. While we’re on the way we suggest you stay clear of the door opening if there is forced entry, and move pets and children out of reach of tools. Have photo ID or proof of residence ready, and have any other keys for the house available so we can test new hardware and make sure every lock operates together.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown with a mobile kit built for common residential jobs: cylinders, deadbolts, knobs, hardened screws, strike plates, and a selection of key blanks. We rekey cylinder sets so one key operates multiple locks, match keyways when homeowners want keyed-alike doors, and cut new keys on-site. We also change combinations for keypad locks and replace battery packs. When you call we’ll tell you how soon we can come and what to expect at the door; then we arrive and work where the lock is, not at a shop.
