What goes wrong
Homes lock up in a few predictable ways: a key breaks in the cylinder, a deadbolt sticks against a warped door, knob sets wear out, or the latch no longer lines up with the strike. We see jammed mortise locks, trim that spins on stripped screws, and weather-swollen frames that pinch a bolt. In Overbrook and nearby areas we also get calls about sliding doors with bent rollers and smart locks that have lost network or battery power. We diagnose the physical cause first, not the software or rumor.

What the job involves
When we get to a house we work on what’s in front of us: remove broken keys from cylinders, extract seized screws, rebend or replace rollers, cut out and fit new cylinders, and size new deadbolts or latches to the door. We carry blank cylinders, common thumbturns and a selection of strikes and reinforcement plates for heavy-traffic doors. We can rekey by changing the pin stack, swap out the whole lock, or retrofit a new latch to match the existing bore and backset.

Good to know
While we’re on our way, leave the exterior doors unlocked only if that is safe for you; otherwise keep doors closed and safe and have an alternate entrance clear if you plan to let us in. If you’re outside and locked out, tell us whether the door has a bolt, a chain, a keyed knob, or a deadbolt so we can bring the right tools. For smart locks tell us the brand and whether the batteries are accessible. Have ID ready if you are the homeowner or approved resident so we can document the work.

Worth knowing
Prepare a clear area around the door and remove loose items from the sill and nearby floor so we can lay parts down and use a drill or other power tools safely. If you have replacement hardware in mind, have it on hand or tell us the finish and handing so we can match strike orientation and latch projection. We drive out from Havertown with a mobile kit designed for residential work, and if you live in Overbrook or a neighboring town like Narberth we’ll handle the lock, the strike, the cylinder, and the frame reinforcement as the job requires.
