What goes wrong
We respond to emergency calls for stuck or broken locks across Douglass Township and surrounding areas. People call when a key snaps in a cylinder, a deadbolt refuses to turn, a latch jams after a storm, or a lock has been forced open. We work on residential and commercial hardware: knob and lever locks, single- and double-cylinder deadbolts, mortise locks, and multi-point door systems. For vehicles we handle door and trunk lockouts and keys that have broken in a vehicle lock. We describe clearly what failed and what we plan to do on site.

What the job involves
When we get to a job we start with a quick inspection to find the most straightforward, least-destructive way in. We use picks and tension tools on cylinders, extract snapped keys with picks and extraction tools, and decode cylinder cores to cut a working key on site when possible. If a cylinder is badly damaged we remove and replace it with a matching unit, and we fit a new strike or reinforce the jamb when latch alignment is beyond simple adjustment. We drive out from Havertown with the tools and blanks we need for these fixes.

Good to know
While you wait for help, the safest steps are simple. Keep everyone away from a damaged door and don’t try to force the lock with improvised tools; that often makes repair harder. Locate and bring any spare key, the property deed or vehicle registration if applicable, and a photo ID so we can confirm ownership before changing locks. Note whether the lock is a deadbolt with a long throw, a cylinder that turns freely, or a latch that barely moves. If you can, take a phone photo of the lock head and the strike for a quick assessment.

Worth knowing
Have ready the things that make a smooth service call: identification and proof of ownership, any spare or broken key pieces you recovered, and clear access to the door or vehicle. If doors are swollen or the strike plate is loose, clear the area so we can set up a portable work surface and test hardware changes. If you live in Douglass Township or are coming from nearby Gilbertsville or New Hanover Township we’ll work with the existing hardware as much as possible, rekeying, replacing or reinforcing locks so the entry functions reliably when we finish.
