What goes wrong
Commercial customers call us when a door won't latch, an exit device sticks, or a key snaps in a mortise cylinder during a busy shift. We see broken cam followers, worn tailpieces, and long-throw deadbolts that have lost their alignment. In South Philadelphia storefronts and offices we pull trim and check the boltwork, replace or re-pin cylinders, and service the door closer and strike so the latch meets its keep. We carry replacement cylinders, reinforced strikes, and heavy-duty levers suited to doors that see a lot of traffic.

What the job involves
A typical commercial lockout or repair job involves diagnosing the mechanism, removing the trim, and deciding whether to repair the existing cylinder or replace it. We open locks non-destructively when possible, but when a key has sheared or a cylinder is corroded we cut out the old unit and install a new one. For exit devices and panic bars we test the push bar and latchwork, replace worn rollers and dogging parts, and check the door closer for proper tension and sweep.

Good to know
While we work on a storefront or office door, staff should secure other entrances and keep customers or employees away from the work area for safety. If the door controls an alarm or an electronic lock, have the alarm company or building manager on hand so systems are not tripped. For access control or keypad jobs in South Philadelphia, have the master code holder or authorized contact ready to approve changes and provide the programming credentials or existing wiring diagrams if they exist.

Worth knowing
Before we arrive, have keys and any key lists available, and point out which doors are priority and which can remain closed. If you have a keyed-alike or master-key plan, locate the relevant keys and key tags so we can match cuts and pinning. We drive out from Havertown with tool kits, cylinders, exit device parts, and keypad modules commonly used in commercial doors, and we’ll walk you through the options for repair or replacement based on what we see at the lock.
