What goes wrong
Cars lock for a handful of mechanical and electronic reasons. Keys left inside, a snapped key in the ignition or door, frozen or corroded cylinders, jammed latches, or failed remote fobs are the usual causes we see. In South Philadelphia we work on sedans, pickups, and SUVs with post-mounted locks, vertical latch bolts, and trunk levers. We describe the problem plainly when you call so we can bring the right tools: long-reach arms, wedges, probe hooks, and cylinder extraction gear as needed.

What the job involves
When we get to a vehicle we start with the least destructive method that will open the door. That can mean creating a small gap with an air wedge, fishing a key out with a long-reach tool, or manipulating wafer stacks and linkages through the door cavity. If a key is broken we can extract the fragment and cut a replacement on site. For vehicles with transponder chips or remotes we carry programming equipment and batteries to restore remote operation when possible.

Good to know
If anyone is locked inside the car, a child or a pet included, call 911 and then call us. Stay nearby but out of traffic, and tell us if a spare key is stored in the car. If the key is broken, bring any pieces you’ve saved. Tell us the exact vehicle model, year, and where the keys were left or how the failure happened; those details change which tools we use and the approach we take. We work with people across South Philadelphia and surrounding areas in the same practical way.

Worth knowing
Have the vehicle registration or title and an ID ready when we arrive so we can verify ownership and get to work without extra questions. Give us the make, model, year, color, and the VIN or license plate if you can; the key blank and fob type are useful details. We drive out from Havertown with a van stocked for on-site key cutting, cylinder removal, and fob service. When you call we tell you honestly how soon we can come, and then we head straight to the car to get the lock functioning again.
