What goes wrong
Keys left inside, a key snapped at the bow or in the ignition, a power lock that won’t respond, a trunk that won’t release, or an electronic fob that has lost its programming are the common causes of a car lockout we see in Point Breeze. Sometimes the physical key is fine but the lock cylinder is worn, the key blade bent, or the door latch binding. We describe the problem plainly when we get there so you know if it’s an electrical fault, a mechanical stuck latch, or a broken key to extract.

What the job involves
On arrival we assess the lock hardware and the safest way in. We aim for non-destructive techniques when the door and glass allow: manipulating the lock from the cylinder or using picks suited to pin-tumbler and wafer mechanisms, removing trim when necessary to get behind the latch, and extracting broken key fragments with purpose-built extraction tools. If the ignition cylinder needs service we take the access route that preserves dash and surrounding trim. We drive out from Havertown with the tools to handle these steps.

Good to know
With a child or a pet locked in the car, phone 911 first, then us. Have photo ID and the registration or title nearby so we can confirm ownership without a fuss. If your vehicle has an alarm, turn off any aftermarket alarm or leave the fob where we can see it; that helps prevent false triggers when we open the door. If you prefer to stay a short distance away on the curb, let us know where you are and we’ll come meet you at the car.

Worth knowing
If a replacement key is needed we can cut a new mechanical key on-site and program transponder remotes when the vehicle permits; bring any damaged pieces of key or the remote fob if you have them. Also have the vehicle identification number or the title handy if you need a new key based on vehicle records. We’ll explain what work the lock needs and, when you call, tell you how soon we can come; we do the job where the lock is, in Point Breeze or nearby areas like Graduate Hospital and South Philadelphia.
