What goes wrong
We work on the kinds of failures commercial doors give you: exit devices that jam on the tailpiece, panic bars with broken latches, keypads that stop reading codes, cylinders frozen or sheared, and electric strikes that won’t release. At Graduate Hospital we often replace worn mortise cylinders, rebuild exit device mechanics, and swap out damaged strikes and reinforced faceplates where repeated traffic has warped the door frame. We bring the parts and tools to cut, pin, and rekey cylinders, adjust long-throw bolts, and align strikes so a door closes and secures properly.

What the job involves
When a lock or access device fails during business hours, we keep the work focused on restoring secure operation and minimizing disruption. We can work on surface-mounted keypads, retrofit access-control readers, and tie a new electric strike into an existing door closer. If an exit device needs new latches or the door edge needs reinforcing, we remove the old hardware, fit the replacement, and check mechanical engagement across the latch range. At Graduate Hospital we coordinate with whoever controls building access so we match systems already in use.

Good to know
While you wait for us to arrive, clear the area around the door and keep staff and patients away from the swing path. Have on hand a contact who can authorize the work, the building key or keycard for the affected door, and any wiring diagrams or access-control vendor information if you have them. If the door is part of a master key system, bring the control key or list of key changes you want; for electronic systems, note which users must retain or lose access. We travel out from Havertown and will ask for the onsite contact and the exact door designation.

Worth knowing
For ongoing commercial needs we install and maintain exit devices, panic bars, door closers, reinforced strikes, master key systems, and access-control components like keypads and electric locks. We check bolt throw, door alignment, and reinforcement around the lockset, swap cylinders or mortise packs, and bench-cut keys when required. If you manage a suite in University City or an office building near Point Breeze, we’ll work where the hardware is, not at a shop. Have the door serial or hardware photos ready when you call so we can prepare the right parts.
