What goes wrong
We handle commercial lock work for storefronts and offices in Rittenhouse Square and the surrounding parts of Philadelphia. We see mortise locks with broken latches, cylinder cores that stick or turn free, exit devices whose plungers seize, electric strikes with failed solenoids, and door closers that no longer hold the leaf square. We drive out from Havertown to the site and start by isolating the problem: whether the issue is mechanical wear on a forged bolt, a worn strike, a bad spindle, or an electrical fault in an access panel.

What the job involves
On site we diagnose and explain the options in plain terms. If a cylinder is failing we can rekey the lock or swap the cylinder; if an exit device has a fractured dogging assembly we remove and replace the bar, fasteners, and strike, then align the latch. For electronic systems we check power, wiring and controller inputs, replace power supplies or door contacts, and program keypads or fobs where needed. We test mechanical throws and reinforced strikes, verify door closers are set for smooth sweep and latch, and leave working hardware with visible adjustments completed.

Good to know
While we work, customers should secure the area and make staff and tenants aware of the temporary condition. If the lock is on an egress door, keep an alternate exit clear and post a temporary sign for employees or customers. Have the building manager or designated authorized person on site to confirm who may request keying changes or new codes. It helps if someone can supply existing keys, access cards, device manuals, or the original handset for the keypad so we can avoid unnecessary replacements.

Worth knowing
Before we start, have the property name or suite number, a picture or clear description of the hardware, and the authorized contact available to approve the work; in many cases we will ask to see ID and proof that the requester has authority to change locks. For master key work bring the current master keying plan or the existing key that works; for electronic access bring any programming codes or the controller label. We work in Rittenhouse Square and other Center City areas, and we follow the practical steps that get doors returning to reliable operation with new keys, adjusted strikes, or reprogrammed access as required.
