The buildings and the hardware
The mix of buildings here affects the hardware we see. Many houses have older solid wood doors with deeper lock mortises, thicker strike plates, and hardware that takes a mortise or conventional deadbolt; newer homes and townhouses more often use bored cylindrical latchsets and lighter, stamped metal strike plates. Multi-unit buildings bring mailbox banks and passage-style locks that need keyed alike or master-keyed solutions. Small storefronts usually use commercial-grade cylindrical locks or surface-mounted exit devices, which require different tools and parts than a residential latchset. We stock parts and knowledge for both legacy and contemporary hardware.
