About Oxford

Oxford sits near Lincoln University and developed around railroad connections and confectionery manufacturing. The town retains a historic district with preserved commercial buildings and a former railroad station repurposed for municipal use, and it is served by major regional highways that bypass the town.

Lock and key work in Oxford, PA

What people call about

People in and around Oxford call us for a predictable set of lock and key jobs: emergency lock changes after a break-in, rekeying a home or rental, extracting broken keys from cylinders, installing or replacing deadbolts and thumbturns, swapping out mailbox and garage locks, and the residential locksmith tasks that keep a house secure. We also handle car lockouts and car key replacement on site. Our work is straightforward and technical (aligning pins, adjusting strikes, cutting and programming keys), and we bring the tools and parts to finish most standard jobs at the door rather than sending parts back and forth.

The buildings and the hardware

The building stock in much of Chester County affects what we actually fit on a lot of doors. Older single-family houses often have narrow stile doors, mortise locks, rim cylinders, and interior doors that accept smaller bolts; those require a different set of plates, longer spindles, and sometimes a larger chisel than a modern pre-hung slab. Smaller multiunit buildings and storefronts tend to use cylindrical locks, panic hardware on exits, or commercial deadbolts that mate with metal doors. That mix means we carry both residential and light-commercial hardware and know how to adapt a new lock to an old door without guessing.

The car side

On the car side we cover lockouts, key cutting, and key and fob replacement. Modern vehicles commonly use transponder chips, proximity fobs, and laser-cut or sidewinder blades that need programming or a specific cutter; older cars generally relied on a simple mechanically cut key and a tumbler. For modern replacements we can cut the correct blade, program the transponder or fob to the vehicle’s immobilizer, and test remote functions on site. If a vehicle’s lock is damaged or a key breaks in the cylinder, we extract the fragment and replace or rekey the lock as the situation requires.

How we work

We work mobile only: there is no shop or counter to visit, and every job happens where the lock is. Our service van comes stocked with common cylinders, deadbolts, key blanks, cutting and programming gear, and parts for cars and houses so we can complete most jobs in one visit. When you call, we’ll tell you plainly how soon we can be there rather than promising an exact arrival time. We focus on doing the mechanical and electronic work correctly on site, whether it’s an emergency lockout, a new set of home keys, or programming a replacement car key.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

More questions people ask before calling.

I manage a few rental units in Oxford, can you make it so each tenant only has a key for their door and I still have one key for everything?

We rekey the locks so each tenant key works only on its own door while the owner’s master key operates all rekeyed cylinders. We change or pin the lock cores where needed and label cylinders to match your unit list. Before we rekey any unit, we'd like to see photo ID and proof you own or manage the units.

My bedroom safe in Oxford won’t open, can you get it open here?

We open safes where they stand without moving them from the room and work with the lock type you report. Tell us the safe’s make and model if you know it, and whether it uses a dial, electronic keypad, or key override. Before we open the safe, we ask for photo ID and a receipt or other proof the safe is yours.

I bought a keypad lock and want it fitted to my existing front door, so can you do that?

We fit a keypad or smart lock to an existing door, align the deadbolt with the strike, and set up the electronics and user codes with you on-site. We recommend keeping a lock that includes a mechanical key override. Have the complete lock and all its parts with you so we can install and program it together.

My old front door has the original lock and the key is getting stiff and sometimes sticks, so can that be fixed?

Often we service an older mortise or cylinder lock in place, lubricating and adjusting components to restore smooth action; if it’s beyond repair we fit a replacement that matches the door and avoids new holes where possible. Note the symptom (sticking, loose, stiff key) and have the door secured and accessible for us to inspect and work on.
