What goes wrong
Locks on commercial doors wear in particular ways. We see cylinders that bind from heavy use, lever handles with stripped tailpieces, deadbolts with bent throws, exit devices that no longer retract cleanly, and keypads or card readers that fail to register punches or swipes. We also get calls for doors with a broken or pulled strike, or closers that slam or fail to latch. When you call from Oxford we drive out from Havertown with the tools to diagnose whether the problem is mechanical, electrical, or a combination.

What the job involves
On site we start with a hands-on inspection of the door and the hardware rather than a guess. We remove trims and faceplates, inspect cylinders and cores, test the tailpieces and spindle, and check the strike alignment and door frame. For electronic locks and access control we check power and wiring, battery contacts, and keypad or reader connections. Repairs can include cylinder replacement or rekeying, fitting a reinforced strike, servicing an exit device or repairing a closer, or installing new hardware where parts are beyond repair.
03
Good to know
While we work you should secure the space and keep staff away from the immediate doorway. If you can, route traffic to another entrance and post a temporary notice for customers or employees. Have the building or property manager present if access to locked rooms, server closets, or safes is needed. If an alarm panel or building automation ties into the door, have the person who controls those systems available; we may need codes or a person to momentarily disable an interlock while we test hardware.

Worth knowing
Preparing a few things ahead of time saves time on site. Gather any existing keys, key cards, or fobs and the current keying records or master key plan if you have them. Note whether the doors are metal or wood, the handing, and whether closers are surface-mounted or concealed; measurements of backset and thickness help if you can provide them. For electronic hardware, have battery packs, power supply details, and any control panel contact info ready. We service businesses across Chester County, including Oxford and nearby townships, and bring parts and options to get a door working properly.
