What goes wrong
We respond to lock emergencies in Oxford and the surrounding townships when a cylinder snaps, a key shears off in a pin-tumbler, a deadbolt jams, or a thumbturn won’t operate. We work on household entry doors, apartment locks, commercial lever sets, and padlocks. In many cases the problem is visible: a broken key head, a bent bolt, a warped strike plate, or a latch that won’t retract. We explain what the hardware shows and what replacement parts are needed so you can decide whether to repair the existing lock or fit new, solid components.

What the job involves
When a key breaks or won’t turn we extract what remains from the plug and inspect the cylinder for mushroomed pins or internal damage. For a mortise lock we check the cam and tailpiece alignment, and for long-throw deadbolts we examine bolt travel and strike reinforcement. If an electronic keypad or fob is the source of trouble we test battery contacts and the antenna for the transponder or RFID reader. For vehicles we read basic key information where possible and inspect the mechanical lock before touching the ignition or programming components.

Good to know
While we drive out from Havertown it helps when you are ready at the door and able to describe what happened and what you tried. Stay safe and don’t force the lock; forcing can push broken bits deeper or bend a bolt so replacement becomes necessary. Tell us whether the door sticks, if the frame is sound, or if the knob spins with no engagement. For cars, have the registration and your ID handy, and if you have the original key shell or fob bring that detail in your description so we know what parts to expect.

Worth knowing
Have ready any photos you can text of the door, lock face, or the broken key before you close up the problem area; images often show things we can’t tell over the phone. Know the type of lock if you can: cylinder deadbolt, mortise, rim lock, tubular, and whether the strike has been reinforced with longer screws or a metal plate. If you’re in Lower Oxford Township or elsewhere near Oxford we’ll handle the extraction, repair, or replacement on site; every job happens where the lock is, not at a counter or shop.
