What goes wrong
We handle everyday residential lock problems in Queen Village and elsewhere in Philadelphia from our mobile van. People call about doors they can’t get open because a key broke in the cylinder, deadbolts that won’t retract, sliding-door latches that won’t engage, mailbox and garage locks that have rusted into place, and worn knob sets that turn without catching. We also replace cylinders when homeowners lose keys, fit new deadbolts and keypad units, and extract snapped keys cleanly so the existing hardware can often be saved rather than replaced.

What the job involves
On site we diagnose the mechanism and choose the least destructive repair. That can mean removing the cylinder to extract a broken key, swapping the pin stack and rekeying so old keys stop working, cutting a new key from the cylinder, or drilling and replacing a seized part when extraction won’t work. We carry common cylinder types, replacement deadbolts, strike plates, longer screws for the jamb, key blanks and cutting tools in the van so most work is completed at the door where the problem actually is.

Good to know
While you wait for us, the most useful things you can have ready are a photo ID and proof of residence for any lockout, the exact door or mailbox we should work on, and any keys or key codes you still have. Move pets to another room, clear the immediate work area so we can set down tools, and if there are security screens or storm doors let us know before we arrive. When you call we’ll say how soon we can come and what to expect us to bring for the job.

Worth knowing
We also do preventive work and simple upgrades for homeowners who want a stronger door setup. We fit a longer, heavier strike and use longer screws into the jamb, install reinforced strike plates, replace thin stamped latches with solid ones, and service electronic or battery-powered keypad locks to check wiring and battery contacts. We drive out from Havertown with parts and tools, work at the lock for every job, and leave the hardware operating smoothly and the area cleared of debris when we finish in Queen Village or neighboring areas.
