What goes wrong
We work on the locks people use every day: deadbolts, knob and lever locks, mortise locks, sliding patio door latches, mailbox cores, and the hardware that wears out or breaks. Common problems in East Falls are broken key shafts inside a cylinder, frozen or stiff knobs, and bolts that won't fully seat because the strike is loose or the frame has shifted. We extract broken keys, replace cylinders, cut new keys on the van, and fit reinforced strikes and long-throw bolts when the door and frame allow it.

What the job involves
When you call we tell you how soon we can come and then drive out from our Havertown shop truck to the address. On arrival we confirm which lock is the issue, examine the door and frame, and explain the mechanical steps before we start, whether that means rekeying the cylinder, drilling a seized part for removal, replacing a knob set, or fitting a new deadbolt with a reinforced strike. We carry replacement cylinders, forged deadbolts, and the tools for cutting keys and extracting cores so most jobs stay on site.

Good to know
If you’re dealing with a lockout or a broken key, stay safe and don’t force the door. If the key is just stuck, keep the key aligned and don’t twist harder; forcing can shear the remaining shaft. While you wait, clear space around the door so we can set down tools and work the jamb. Have photo ID and a form of proof you live at or occupy the residence ready, and show us which keys you want duplicated or which locks you want changed so we can confirm the scope before starting.

Worth knowing
For upgrades and security fixes we describe the physical hardware options and what they do. A solid forged deadbolt with a long-throw bolt resists direct kick-in better than a shallow bolt; a reinforced strike plate with through-bolts draws the frame into the jamb instead of letting the bolt bear on drywall. We can replace worn cylinders to remove unwanted keys from circulation, rekey whole houses, and fit keyed- alike sets so one key works multiple locks. We travel across East Falls, and nearby Germantown or Roxborough when needed, with parts and the gear to complete most residential jobs on site.
