What goes wrong
A car lockout can start in several ways: keys left on the front seat with doors locked, a fob that stopped transmitting because its battery failed, a cut or bent key that won't turn, or a broken key stuck in a tumbler. On modern cars the issue is often an electronic fault in the fob or a frozen actuator in the door latch. Older vehicles give problems with worn wafer stacks or a corroded linkage. In East Falls we see a mix of electronic and mechanical failures; identifying which one is first tells us what tools and technique to use.

What the job involves
When we get the job we bring tools for non-destructive entry and for careful repair on the spot. That can mean using a wedge and long-reach tool to press the interior unlock, picking a wafer or pin section with tension applied, extracting a snapped key with micro-extractors, or bypassing a faulty actuator to open the door without replacing the lock. For electronic fobs we test the battery and the transmitter and, if needed, use a mechanical override. We drive out from Havertown and work from your car; most work happens right where the vehicle is parked in East Falls or nearby.

Good to know
While you wait, the safest thing to do is stay beside the vehicle but out of traffic, keep children and pets away from the curb, and keep one phone line open so we can reach you. Check for an obvious spare key, try the physical key slot if your fob seems dead, and look for an unlocked rear hatch or glovebox rather than forcing a door. Avoid hammering, trying to jimmy the lock with improvised tools, or drilling out hardware yourself; those moves often convert a simple entry into a lock replacement.

Worth knowing
Have these items ready when we arrive: your photo ID, vehicle registration or title, and the VIN or the last seven digits if you can find them on the dash or paperwork. Tell us the make, model and year and point out which door or hatch is stuck. If you can tell whether the key is bent, broken, or the fob shows no lights, mention that too. We handle the on-vehicle work, repair or extract damaged keys, and leave any replaced components functioning; if further parts are needed we can advise you about parts and options before proceeding.
