What goes wrong
We handle the common immediate failures that leave people locked out or with compromised doors. Keys break off in pin-and-tumbler cylinders, deadbolts jam because the bolt binds on a warped jamb, and latch mechanisms fail after a forced turn or kick. Electronic keypad units can lock up or lose power, and mortise locks sometimes shear parts of the case. In Whitemarsh Township we see these same mechanical problems in older and newer doors. We drive out from Havertown in our van with the tools and replacement parts most often needed for an emergency.

What the job involves
First steps matter for safety and for a clean repair. If you’re outside, stand back from the door and keep children and pets away from the entry; don’t try to pry the door with a screwdriver or hammer, which bends hardware and makes replacement harder. If you’re inside and can secure secondary exits, stay in a safe room until we arrive. When you call, we’ll tell you how soon we can come and what we’ll need from you on the phone so the job proceeds without guessing once we’re there.

Good to know
When we arrive we inspect the lock and the door as installed, not just the cylinder. That means checking the strike, the jamb, the bolt, the keyway and the hardware screws, as well as any trim that’s been bent. For broken keys we extract metal fragments and check for internal scoring or worn driver pins; for deadbolt jams we realign the strike or replace the bolt assembly and, if needed, the reinforced strike plate. For electronic locks we test the battery contacts, the wiring where visible, and the actuator, and replace modules when repair isn’t reliable.

Worth knowing
Have a few things ready to speed the fix: your photo ID and proof that you live at or own the property, a key or photo of the key if you have one, and the brand or model number from the lock or keypad if you can see it. Tell us whether the door has security plates, a reinforced strike, or glass nearby, because that affects how we approach the entry. We work across Whitemarsh Township and nearby towns such as Fort Washington and will leave the lock in usable condition, explaining what failed and what we recommend for durability.
