What goes wrong
A stuck deadbolt, a snapped key in a cylinder, a knob that turns without retracting the latch and an electronic keypad that won’t accept input are the sorts of emergencies we handle in Fort Washington. Doors that swell after a storm can push a bolt against a reinforced strike so the lock will not move, and corrosion or a broken tailpiece can leave a cylinder unresponsive. We describe the problem plainly when you call so you know what we expect to see and what we plan to do on site.

What the job involves
When we get to a job we start with a quick inspection of the door edge, strike, cylinder and mounting screws to identify binding, broken parts or missing fasteners. If a key is broken we extract the fragment; if the tumbler is damaged we remove the cylinder for repair or replacement. We can rekey an existing locking system, swap to a different cylinder profile, or replace a knobset with a full deadbolt and reinforce the strike with longer screws and a steel plate. We drive out from Havertown and bring the tools and cylinders needed for most common repairs.

Good to know
While you wait for us, keep the area around the door clear and make sure windows or secondary doors are secure so there’s no route for someone to enter. Have photo ID and a way to show ownership or authorization for the property ready on your phone or in your hand. If the lock is part of an alarm or access-control system, find any account numbers or the control panel so we can coordinate with whatever system is present. Keep pets in another room and move vehicles away from the curb so we can work without obstruction.

Worth knowing
To speed the repair bring any working keys, remotes, or the old broken parts if you removed them. Take photos of the lock, the whole door edge and the strike and send them to us; a clear photo of the cylinder face and any maker’s stamp is especially useful. Note door material, frame condition and which side swings; tell us if the lock is mortised into the door or surface-mounted, or if it’s an electronic unit that requires battery or network access. We routinely work across Montgomery County and may serve nearby towns such as Upper Dublin Township when the job calls for it.
