What goes wrong
Locks fail in ways that look urgent: a key snaps in a cylinder, a deadbolt throws but the bolt jams against a warped strike, an electronic keypad goes dark, or a garage door lock will not turn. We diagnose what’s stuck or disabled, then choose the least destructive method to get you back inside. On many older doors the lock hardware is worn (loose screws, a split spindle, a mortise body that’s shifted), and we work the mechanism, replace parts where needed, and make sure the bolt rides cleanly in the jamb.

What the job involves
When a vehicle or house lock jams with a broken key, we extract the metal and test the remaining tumblers. For electronic or smart locks we check battery packs, wiring for damage, and the actuator or motor. If a keyed cylinder has been forced we’ll assess whether the cylinder can be swapped on the spot or if a full lockset replacement is safer. For sliding patio locks and multi-point latch systems we align the keeper surfaces, adjust the strike plates, and replace damaged latches so the door secures properly again.

Good to know
While you wait, move to a safe spot off the street and keep any small children and pets with you. If you’ve been locked out of a house, close and secure any other exterior doors and bring a form of ID and proof of residence if you have it. Having the original key, a photo of your key or the lock, and any vehicle registration or recent utility bill speeds identification and makes the job clearer when we arrive from our Havertown base.

Worth knowing
We bring a stock of cylinders, deadbolts, tubular and mortise latch sets, various key blanks, replacement strike plates, and common electronic modules so we can do as much on site as possible. If a new part is the right solution we explain the hardware differences in plain terms (solid brass cylinder, forged steel deadbolt, a long-throw bolt versus a short one), and we fit the appropriate component. We service Wayne and nearby areas including Radnor Township and Devon, and we tell callers how soon we can come without promising an exact arrival time.
