What goes wrong
We work on the kinds of problems homeowners call about most: a key that snaps off in a cylinder, a deadbolt that won’t throw because the strike plate is pulled away, door hardware that binds when the frame swells, and knobs whose internal gears are stripped. Often the visible symptom is a door that won’t latch or locks that feel gritty and hard to turn. We diagnose the mechanism first (cylinder, latch, mortise or rim lock), so we replace or repair the part that’s actually failing rather than guessing at a cause.

What the job involves
When we come out from Havertown to Wayne we bring the tools to do real lockwork on site: pick and rekey cylinders, remove and replace cores, fit new mortise cylinders, cut keys, and swap deadbolts and reinforced strikes. We carry common replacement hardware and the drills and extraction kits needed when a key is broken off. If a few screws need tightening we do that, and when reinforcement is required we fit a longer throw bolt and a beefier strike to hold against forced entry.

Good to know
While you’re waiting, stay close by so we can go over the problem and the front, back or garage entry without someone having to leave the house unattended. Keep children and pets out of the work area and clear away furniture that blocks access to the lock and frame. Have your keys handy so we can inspect them, and have photo ID or other proof you live there ready to show us before we begin. We’ll tell you when we can get there when you call so you know whether to wait at home or make other plans.

Worth knowing
Before we start any work it helps if you can point out what you want: regain use of the existing key, change who has keys, or upgrade to a heavier deadbolt or a keyed knob and deadbolt combination. If you know the lock is a rim or mortise type, or that it’s a cylinder with a threaded tailpiece, tell us; it saves time. We do residential jobs across Wayne and nearby towns such as Radnor Township and Devon, and we handle whatever the hardware on the door actually is rather than selling features you don’t need.
