What goes wrong
People call with keys stuck in a door, knobs that turn with no deadbolt action, cylinders that spin, or a broken key left inside the lock. We also handle electronic keypad failures, lost office or home keys, and car door or trunk lockouts where the mechanical latch won't release. In Thorndale we see stripped screws, rusted bolts, and long-throw deadbolts that need careful handling. We explain what failed and what part needs to be removed or replaced, and then get to work extracting, aligning, or swapping the component that isn’t operating.

What the job involves
When a key snaps or a cylinder binds we start by isolating the mechanism and checking the strike and latch engagement. We remove trim where necessary, pick or manipulate the bolt, and extract broken key fragments with picks or precision extraction tools. If the cylinder is too damaged we swap it out for a solid replacement and rekey on site, or fit a new lock body and reinforced strike when the frame or jamb has ripped. For electronic locks we check power and connections, replace batteries or the controller module if it’s failed, and restore mechanical access before we finish.

Good to know
While we’re on our way from Havertown, keep the area safe and accessible: lock or secure unrelated doors, turn on a porch light, and stay where you can speak with us. If someone else is the property owner have their permission ready; for vehicles have the registration and photo ID available to show ownership. Take a clear photo of the problem lock or the broken key with your phone, and note the brand or any stamped numbers on the cylinder if visible. Those details let us bring the right blanks, cylinders, or parts and avoid extra trips.

Worth knowing
For what to have ready, gather any spare keys, garage remotes, keypad codes, or previous receipts for recent lock hardware if you have them. If the lock is part of a multi-point door bring information on the handle set and the number of locking points so we can prepare reinforcements if needed. If a strike plate is badly worn we can fit a longer screw or a reinforced strike; if the cylinder is forged we can match the profile. When work is done we demonstrate the action, test deadbolts and strikes, and show you any new keys or procedures for the lock before we leave.
